Delta makes the new year happier for its passengers by rolling out free WiFi on 80% of its fleet. The airline is set to start this service on Feb 1, 2023, in partnership with T-mobile.
"At T-Mobile, we believe staying connected while traveling should be an easy, seamless experience. T-Mobile customers already get free in-flight Wi-Fi and now we’re partnering with Delta to bring that experience to all customers — regardless of their wireless provider — so that anyone flying Delta can enjoy online access from takeoff to touchdown.", said T-Mobile's CEO, Mike Sievert.
After years of planning, Delta airline is in the final phase of achieving its goal of providing complementary inflight WiFi services. After tests and trials of Viasat equipment on its aircraft, Delta found its technology compatible to keep all the passengers onboard a flight simultaneously connected.
Bastian, the Delta Air Lines CEO, said, “At work, at home and everywhere in between, connectivity is essential to daily life, and your journey on Delta should be no different. Our vision has long been to deliver an experience at 30,000 feet that feels similar to what our customers have available on the ground.”
How to Access Free Wifi on Delta Flights?
Beginning on February 1, 80% of Delta's fleet will provide access to the new perk the airline is offering. The majority of Delta's domestic mainline aircraft will start offering free WiFi starting next month, and its international and regional planes will follow suit by 2024, according to the airline.
Pre-requisites of Availing WiFi on Delta Flights
In order to access Delta's WiFi for free, the passenger must be a member of SkyMiles and/or a T-Mobile customer. It should be noted becoming a SkyMiles member is free. Those who don’t wish to take the SkyMiles membership can access the internet for $10.
